In accordance with the announcements made by Christian Estrosi, the MAMAC will be closed its doors from 7 January 2024 for renovation works and inclusion in the major Promenade du Paillon 2 project. Eventually, the museum will be located at the heart of a 20-hectare urban forest, which will actively help to enhance the well-being of residents and visitors alike in a context of climate change.
« During this period of closure, I want the people of Nice to be able to continue to enjoy the MAMAC’s rich collections. The closure of the museum for this essential renovation and embellishment work marks the start of a new era: the discovery of the MAMAC in a different way. Some works never or rarely seen before will be exhibited in other municipal museums and in the city. MAMAC will be reaching out to the people of Nice, the Metropolitan area and beyond! Niki de Saint Phalle will be exhibited in the United States. I’d like to express my warmest thanks to Hélène Guenin for this ambitious program, which is accessible to all audiences and will continue to promote the museum’s reputation. » Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice, President of the Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur, Deputy President of the Regional Council of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur
