The MAMAC (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Nice) will be closing its doors on 7 January 2024 for renovation works and inclusion in the major Promenade du Paillon 2 project.
Eventually, the museum will find itself at the heart of a 20-hectare urban forest, with the planting of more than 1,500 trees of species that are adapted to our climate, consume little water and provide good shade.
To make the last day a unique and festive moment, the MAMAC proposes a series of events throughout the day, including tours and workshops for young and old alike. Rediscover the MAMAC collections with the teams, share your favourite work, follow the dancers and circus performers in the museum rooms…. And don’t forget to check out the MAMAC’s off-site program !
Program :
From 11.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. then 2.00 to 5.00 p.m. :
Giant screen-printing workshop with Lazarine.
Create your own silkscreen prints on fabric, T-shirts and tote bags and leave with a souvenir of the MAMAC.
From 2.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. :
Meet MAMAC’s Friends and the team
Flash visit of the favourite works of MAMAC’s friends and dialogues with the team.
3.oo p.m. & 6.00 p.m. :
IMMOBILE – Circus with Company Les Hommes de mains.
This site-specific, performance is a unique creation for the museum spaces. Follow the performers! The six acrobats shape an intimate space, mirroring our frenetic pace and restlessness.
From 2.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. :
NICE WILD BUNCH –musical and dance performances by Gradar and Benjamin Fincher with the Dance Company Antipodes.
A global soundsystem will accompany the public through the museum. Four groups of DJs, representing the different musical souls of Nice, will perform, mixing different styles, periods and techniques. Resonating with the collection, musicians will transform the museum into a music club, from the main lobby to the rooftop. Dancers from Antipodes will interact with the DJ sets.
7.00 p.m.: Lighting of Yves Klein’s Wall of Fire on the museum’s rooftop
From 2.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. :
Bar and food service on the terraces with Méla Pâtisserie Vivante, a 100% home-made pastry factory.
The organic pastries are served with Klein blue tea with butterfly peas, organic apple juice, home-made vervain syrup and coffee.
8.00 p.m. : closing down.
