The MAMAC is preparing for the future.
It’s closed for renovation, but its programming continues outside the walls!
The MAMAC closed its doors on January 7, 2024 for renovation work as part of the Promenade du Paillon season 2 project.
The museum will eventually find itself at the heart of a 20-hectare green lung, which will actively contribute to the fight against climate change and enhance the well-being of residents and visitors alike.
Work on the MAMAC will take 4 years. The museum will benefit from an in-depth renovation campaign to meet the challenges of a 21st-century museum and strengthen its international reputation.
“During this period of closure, I want the people of Nice to be able to continue to enjoy the richness of the MAMAC’s collections. The museum’s closure to carry out essential renovation and embellishment work marks the start of a new era: the discovery of MAMAC in a new way, with new works to be exhibited in other municipal museums and in the city. MAMAC will be reaching out to the people of Nice, the metropolitan area and beyond! Niki de Saint Phalle will be exhibited in the United States. I’d like to extend my warmest thanks to Hélène Guenin for this ambitious program, which is accessible to all audiences and will continue to raise the museum’s profile.”
Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice, President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region
